Color Overload!!

This photo reminds me of the song "Laid". It's overly colorful, kinda clashes, and makes me feel happy (the photo, not the song).

Yard Sale Finds

Sometimes you go yard sale-ing and just happen to stumble across the one sale, in the middle of nowhere, that has the coolest retro/mod furniture you've ever seen.

Sorry Folks...

I'm sick. 365 Days updates are therefore postponed, at least for today. :-/

To take the edge of what I am sure is an insatiable appetite for new photographs by yours truly, you can browse through some older images on Trunkt or Etsy. Or check out some of the fabulous work from fellow Arts in RI members, for a change of pace. And if you're really pining away to see gorgeousness, you can take a peek at one of my favorite design blogs, Decor8.

Hope to be up to photo-taking and editing tomorrow...

South County

It was a gorgeous day to drive around Narragansett, stopping at various scenic spots. Brisk, but gorgeous.

Experiments

I spent far too much time on this photo, lol. At least, on the effect I was trying to achieve. The photo itself is one I've used before, and doesn't quite work with the square format, but the point of this exercise was more the texturing, so I'm still satisfied.

Pinhole Madness

I have not been good about updating for the past few days, and unfortunately don't have enough new photos to make up all of the past days I've missed. However, my lack of actual new photographs is in part due to experimentation with a new technique. I made myself a digital pinhole camera. Sounds fancy, but is really easy. Instead of a lens on my DSLR, I simply put a cap over where the lens would go with tiny tiny hole in it. Here's a preliminary result. I'm working on getting just the right sized pinhole for maximum sharpness without getting too small and causing distortion. The process involves a lot of tiny needles, aluminum foil, electrical tape, and a minor backache. But it's fun! I can't wait for the sun to come back up so I can play some more! (Tiny pinhole needs lots of light to make an image) You can make an even simpler pinhole camera with a matchbox and a roll of film, but then you have to develop the film :-)

Bonus Photo Today :-)

I woke up this morning, got the coffee brewing, looked up, and saw the light coming in on my haphazard arrangement of tulips. Needless to say, my husband had to finish getting the coffee ready, because I immediately ran for the camera. There are several shots I plan to play around with, but I like this one because of its setting. With my fridge covered in miscellaneous magnets and papers as a backdrop, you can really get a sense of how I felt seeing these lovely flowers in this lovely light in my rather everyday kitchen.

Back to Borderland

Ok, I'm officially giving up on physically taking a new picture every day. I just can't do it, it's sucking away my creative energy. However, I will continue to edit, touch-up, or otherwise create a final image from a photograph, either new or from my archives, every day. For today's image, I looked back a few days through my library to Borderland State Park.
