At his request, we celebrated my Dad's birthday today by participating in the beach cleanup at Moonstone Beach. It was part of a statewide effort coordinated by the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. And it was a lot of fun! The weather was absolutely perfect, and spending the morning on an isolated beach with family doing something good for our coastal ecosystem was a great birthday idea.
I admit, it wasn't all work and no play... the swallows were simply amazing, and we often paused to watch their acrobatics.
And, keeping a sharp eye out for bits of trash meant my sister noticed this amazing creature washed up on the beach - a lobster larva a little less than an inch long. I love its sandy tail :)
All and all, a lovely experience. Thanks Dad!
