The Weekend's Nearly Over...

...but I'm still cherishing these last few hours. I had a lovely weekend, celebrating my anniversary and my birthday. Saturday was stormy, I spent a lot of time drawing plans for our dream bathroom on Google Sketchup (the things I do for fun), and we snuck out between rainstorms to plant our garlic. Today after church we treated ourselves to an artery-clogging brunch at a local restaurant, spent the afternoon planting flower bulbs, and took a walk in the woods just before sunset so I could photograph during the "magic hour" when the light is best. I have trouble shooting during Fall. It is my favorite season and means so much to me - I've yet to take an image that really captures autumn magic in a true way, at least not to my own satisfaction. And photography is about truth - not necessarily reality - but truth.

At any rate, I checked off another day on my 365 Days in Colour list... one more week of brown!

Still Blooming

Another from my 365 Days in Colour.

We narrowly missed a frost last night. Our basil survived the night, but just a few minutes down the road I saw sparkles coating the plants in shadowed hollows. We do expect a frost tonight, so I picked bunches of flowers from the garden and placed them around the house while I still had the opportunity. I'll have to take some photos of my little bouquets later this week, when the sun is up.

A Chilly October Day

#006 in my 365 Days in Colour... There was a little gap between this one and the last, but the project is supposed to be inspiration, not frustration or stress, so I'm taking it easy on myself.

Experimental

Today's photo for the 365 Days in Color challenge required some post-processing magic to meet the "brown" theme. A long day of fieldwork at the day job means I see wetland when I close my eyes - all dreamy like - so that's sort of the feel I'm going for here. Just having fun, which is why I'm doing this challenge. No real pressure to produce "marketable" photographs, just an opportunity to explore.

I'm rambling a bit, I'm tired. Time for herbal tea and a good book.

365 Days in Colour

I've just signed myself up for a creative challenge: 365 days in Colour. One photo, every day, for 365 days. The group moderator sets a color theme each month, and each photo for that month must be dominated by that color. I'm both excited and intimidated about it!

You can watch my progress here, on Flickr, though I will likely post my favorites here on the blog as well. I'll be playing with styles and subjects I don't usually approach, and hopefully learning something along the way.
