Today it was sunny and above 40 degrees F. Nearly all of my immediate family members had the same idea - go to the beach. So we did. It was awesome.

Cabin Fever

With yet another winter storm heading to New England, I partook of a Rhode Island tradition - I went out to buy milk before it snows... again. I couldn't resist picking up some cut flowers while I was at the store. With all this dreary winter weather, I could use a little color! I popped several delicate spray roses in a little vase, and brought a sprig over to a neighbor who was out shoveling her driveway. I hope it brings a little springtime to her day!

With the boys across the street laughing and playing in the snow with their dad, I donned my rubber knee boots and stomped out to capture some of the gorgeous icicles we have around the house this week.

A Post-Blizzard Ramble

As the day drew close to sunset, I found myself a few hundred feet away from my local Audubon refuge. Seizing the opportunity, I grabbed my camera and went for a stroll. The person who had broken the trail wore snowshoes, which would have been quite helpful today, with the snow two feet deep in places. But oh, the damp and cold was worth it, for the forest was filled with quiet magic.
