Just Remember...
...even if it's cold and rainy outside, and feels a bit like March, it's still May, and we still have beautiful May flowers to enjoy. (This is what I keep telling myself, anyway!)

Getting Ready for the Weekend
Ahhh, Friday. We've had a lovely day here. The weather was beautiful, and it was the perfect day for the first grilled pizza of the season! We've got a few things up our sleeves for the weekend, one of which is spending some time in the garden. I'm guessing we won't be able to leave the Southside Community Land Trust's 19th Annual Rare and Unusual Plant Sale without a few purchases in tow!
Do you have any great plans this weekend?

May Flowers
It's been a strangely cool Spring, but there's a silver lining - flowers seem to be hanging around longer than usual!

Through the Eyes of a Child
My sister & young nephew came with me on today's photo excursion. My nephew was absolutely enthralled by watching the Instax film develop. The whole way home he pretended his own Fisher-Price camera was "a developer one", excitedly telling me, "Look Auntie Di! It's starting to develop!"

Magnolias
I think I can safely say that magnolias are my favorite flowering tree. After passing countless gorgeous specimens (all on private land), I was finally able to capture some blossoms at a public location. They're not so easy to find in public places, I'm discovering. We took a bold step and planted our own little magnolia in our yard this year - I'm looking forward to enjoying it (and photographing it) for many years to come.

This Morning
First thing this morning, I took a walk down a nearby road that was flooded and had been closed to traffic. There are orchards and old farmhouses along this particular road, and it was lovely to stroll along it with no traffic, just birdsong. I saw lots of things I would never have noticed while driving.
My main goal was to see/photograph the flooding, but there were some lovely maple trees in bloom along the way, and I couldn't resist.

Hunting for Flowering Trees
It literally took me all day to get this shot. I think some celestial being does not want me to find lovely flowering trees in a location accessible to me... Of course I did spend most of the morning in a fruitless search for Polaroid film, then had to wait for the afternoon and better light to take pictures.
Ah well, the day was not entirely lost. I even came home with a new terrarium jar! (What else is a girl to do at midday when she's far from home and there are consignment shops nearby?) Hope you enjoy!
